Ford Racing Bullitt-Style Aluminum Fuel Door
WHY? Appearance. Just a personal preference, but I think that the fuel fill door on this car is pretty plain. While I was shopping the local Ford dealers looking for my new ride I happened upon a new GT that had been pretty heavily modded by the dealer. Many of the additions were too "boy racer" for my taste, but the aluminum fuel fill door caught my eye. It was a Ford Racing Bullitt-Style piece that was made in brushed aluminum finish. I didn't buy it at the time I purchased the car, but I did see it later on the American Muscle site and elected to purchase it there. Their web site is clean and easy to navigate; I placed my order online and paid via credit card--$99 and free shipping.
SERVICE. Excellent. I received a confirmation immediately and an email with a tracking number the next day. The order arrived at my door via UPS ground service exactly eight days after placing the order; that's nice service, since the item was shipped within 48 hours of order. The fuel door arrived in the original factory packaging, well-packed and undamaged. It's a nice-looking piece, and appears to be well-made. All parts and installation directions were included.
INSTALLATION. This job could be accomplished by an owner with modest mechanical skills and required only basic hand tools. Be sure and follow the recommendations for tightening all fasteners to the proper torque specifications; I can see a real problem if some of the more delicate screws were stripped out. Following the directions and working carefully, I had the new door installed in under 10 minutes.
RESULTS. Nice. It looks good (IMHO) and functions well.
WORTH THE MONEY? Depends on the owner. Since this is strictly an appearance item it's only worth the money if it looks good to you. I believe it's a nice addition.
