C.I.D. X-treme Tree Shear

WHY?  Cedar trees (Mountain Juniper) are a real plague in the Texas Hill Country because they choke out the native vegetation and soak up precious water resources.  There are literally thousands of them on our ranch and it is my goal to eradicate as many of them as I can.  Unlike many other species, these trees do not regenerate when they are cut down.  Most are relatively small trees (less than 12" trunk diameter) so a heavy-duty hydraulic shear can cut down all but the very largest.  The unit pictured here is manufactured by Construction Implements Depot and is American made.  It can handle trees up to 12 inches diameter and the jaws can even be rotated 90* to cut away branches.  Felled trees can then be gathered by our root grapple and placed in piles.  This shear can be used on the quick-attach feature of our skid steer and operated with the auxilary hydraulics, but it is too heavy for use with the tractor and requires more hydraulic flow than the tractor produces:
